Revision of Master Plan and Development Plan for Persian Gulf’s Mineral and Metallic Special Economic Zone

Project description: Persian Gulf Mineral and Metal Special Economic Zone is in km 13 of Shahid Rajaee Freeway in the west of Bandar Abbas. This zone with the name of Mines and Metals Special Economic zone was established in 1997 with the goal of providing the conditions for attracting domestic and foreign investments for construction of energy intensive industrial and mineral plants and mineral processing. Economic development, increase of job opportunities, expansion and development of modern manufacturing technologies & management skills, product quality improvement and increase in export potentials with the aim of competing in international markets were other targets of this zone. In 2004 the name of this zone was changed to Persian Gulf Mineral and Metal Special Economic Zone. In 2005 the development plan of 3,000h of this zone was put in the agenda.  In 2016 and ten years after preparation of the master plan and the development of the zone, Rah Shahr was assigned to review this plan.

Services: SAM Rah Shahr prepared the environmental baseline studies, environmental pollution studies and environmental development strategies of the zone and presented it to the client and received its approval. SAM experts conducted the environmental and ecological capability evaluation and Based on the results prepared the preliminary zoning map; thereafter handed it to urban planning team for preparation of the master plan. Based on the master plan, SEA of the plan as well as waste management plan of industrial and non-industrial solid wastes were prepared and presented.
