SAM offers comprehensive geotechnical services from site selection to construction through innovative investigation, analysis and design as bellow:

Geotechnical Engineering deals with soil and rock, their characteristics and behavior and their effects on design and construction. In principle, all construction sites must be investigated if construction is to be safe and economical. Site investigation can be carried out in different phases of projects including regional studies, feasibility studies, planning (impact assessment studies) and detailed design. Investigation may involve one or more following preliminary steps that are all provided by SAM Rah Shahr:

  • Site Investigation
  • Using Indirect Methods (Geophysical Methods)
  • Soil/Rock Exploration
  • Soil/Rock Sampling
  • In-Situ Testing
  • Laboratory Testing
  • Preparing Site Investigation Report
  • Monitoring during construction

An ongoing evaluation of field and available laboratory data relative to the design objectives should be performed during the implementation of the site investigation. If adjustments are needed or if additional data are required, procedures should be initiated to obtain the necessary information. As a Geotechnical Engineering Consultant, our main objective is to understand the behavior of soils and rocks, provide appropriate advice to control and mitigate geotechnical risks associated with any projects, and specify engineering recommendations for design.

Design of Access Roads: The construction area may be located far from existing roadways and we need to design new to connect them. In this situation, the roadway needs geometric design which is one of our services.

Analysis and Design: The successful design and execution of any geotechnical engineering project requires a good insight, knowledge and experience on subsurface and relevant applicable simulations. In this regard our main services comprise:

  • Assessment of geotechnical parameters
  • Numerical modeling (FEM, FDM, DEM) using most sophisticated simulation software products
  • Slope stability and settlement assessment
  • Detailed design of shallow and deep foundations, embankments and earth dams, underground structures, deep excavations and retaining structures, geosynthetic reinforced soil systems, etc.

Ground improvement techniques are applied to prepare the ground for new construction projects and to reduce the risk of liquefaction in areas of seismic activities. In ground improvement, distinction is made between methods of compaction or densification and methods of soil reinforcement through the introduction of additional material into the ground. Our main ground improvement services are listed below:

  • Preloading and drainage systems
  • Vibro-compaction
  • Vibro-replacement stone columns (dry/wet)
  • Dynamic deep compaction
  • Grouting (cement grouting, jet grouting, compaction and permeation grouting)
  • In-situ soil mixing
  • Ground freezing
  • Soil nailing/Rock bolting
  • Micro-piles

Instrumentation and monitoring allows verification of the design assumptions, demonstrates the actual behavior of geotechnical structure, allows adequate adjustment of construction methods, ensures safe construction, and protects existing structures in an urban environment. We provide below services in this regard:

  • Instrumentation and monitoring specifications
  • Design of instrumentation layouts
  • Process of variable monitoring results and reporting
  • Back calculation of engineering input parameters

Retrofit/Repair of geotechnical structures is one of our providing services. The primary purpose of retrofitting/repairing is to keep existing structure from being out of service or overall damage due to higher level of loading which has not been previously experienced. Many older geotechnical structures are either not used to their full potential or not used at all, due to their structural condition, resulting lack of load capacity, leakage, unforeseen leakage, large displacements, etc.

Several key elements play role in successful construction management including time management, documentation, teamwork, systematic communication, problem solving, etc. We are able to provide services from regular site inspections by our experienced inspectors, to a complete geotechnical project management.
