Imam Khomeini International Airport, Terminal 2

Imam Khomeini International Airport, Terminal 2

Client: Iran Airports & Air Navigation Company

Location: Tehran, Iran

Commencement: January 2012

Completion: August 2012

Project description: Due to geopolitical location of Iran in the region, Tehran has a great potential to become the passenger and cargo hub between Europe and East Asia instead of cities like Dubai. In 1968 this potential was studied by American and French consultants and a plot of land with an area of 14,000 h was reserved for construction of an airport city. Imam Khomeini International Airport was operated in 2005 with a terminal of 6.5 M passengers/Y capacity. One important measure for development of this airport is construction of the 3 new terminals. Terminal 2 with capacity of 20 M passengers/y is considered as one of the biggest projects in the development of the airport city.

Services: SAM Rah Shahr was responsible for preparing the baseline studies, air pollution modelling, aircraft noise modelling and corrective measures study, solar radiation pattern modelling and thermal comfort of the terminal, ESIA, seismic & geo-electric activities and implementation of HSE system.
