Client: Sarakhs Special Economic Zone Origination

Location: Khorasan Razavi Province, Iran

Commencement: January 2014

Completion: January 2015

Project description: Due to policies of the eastern bloc, railroad connection of East and West was not possible. The reason was the difference of the widths of the rails in the eastern countries which did not match the global standards. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Iran found this opportunity to provide the link between East and West through its soil by creating the proper infrastructures. Therefore Sarakhs Special Economic Zone was created with the aim of converting wide rails to standard size and vice versa and connecting the eastern and western rail network. After 15 years of activities in this region, the strategic and master plan of the region required to be reviewed and updated. Rah Shahr International Group was appointed for this task.

Services: SAM Rah Shahr as one of the first technical companies entering in this project, prepared the environmental baseline studies, air, water and noise pollution survey and aircraft noise modelling of Almas Sarakhs International airport.
